Hong Kong activists get asylum in Germany

Hong Kong:  Germany has granted refugee status to two Hong Kong activists facing rioting charges at home, they said on Wednesday, apparently the first time Germany has acknowledged such status for democracy campaigners from the Chinese-ruled city. Ray Wong, (25), and Alan Li (27), both said  they were granted refugee asylum status in Germany in May 2018. Wong showed a document setting out that status. Reuters

3 deaths in Missouri as tornado strikes state capital 

Jefferson City (US): A "violent tornado" touched down in Jefferson City, causing heavy damage in Missouri's capital city as severe weather swept across the state overnight, causing three deaths and leaving many people trapped in the wreckage of their homes. AP
