Oh! These saviours of the hot summer heat ...the juicy watermelons and musk melons. Have them as they are or use the juice to make delicious drinks which give a competition to aerated sweet drinks any day. Make this drink into punch or a slush or a shake as the occasion demands. Be versatile. 

Water Melon Punch & Granita

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 cups water melon juice (chilled) 
  • 1 - 2 tbsp lemon juice 
  • 4 - 6 tbsp caster sugar (according to the sweetness of watermelon)
  • Crushed ice 
  • Vanilla cream 1 brick
  • A piece of watermelon to make watermelon balls for decoration 
  • Few mint leaves for decoration

METHOD:

Cut the watermelon into small pieces and removed as many seeds as you can easily. Make the watermelon balls and keep them aside. Put enough pieces in the mixie (till the blades). Blend for a few seconds and strain it or into a plastic or glass bowl add sugar lemon juice and balance it chill it in the fridge

Serve as:

Juice: Put crushed ice in a glass and then pour the juice and two pinches of black pepper powder (according to taste). Stir and serve it as a refreshing breakfast drink.

Slush: Semi set the juice in the fridge (about70 per cent. Blend this in a mixer and serve it with a straw.

Punch: Put juice to fill half of the mixie. Add ice, 2 to 3 scoops of ice cream and blend. Taste and balance if needed. Pour it into a fancy glass top it with a scoop of ice cream and decorate with watermelon balls. Serve with fancy straw and a long spoon.

Shake: Omit the scoop of ice cream and serve it as such as the shake.
