New Delhi: The number of ATMs in India dropped to 2,21,703 as on March 31, 2019 from 2,22,300 at the end of 2017, a decrease of 597 ATMs, according to a report released by the Reserve Bank of India. India also has one of the lowest ratios of ATM cash withdrawal relative to cash in circulation. However, in terms of the number of ATMs, India is next only to China, recording a strong compound annual growth rate of 14 per cent from 2012 to 2017. IANS
Govt mulls national institute for valuers
New Delhi: The government will look at setting up a national institute for valuers on the lines of chartered accountants’ apex body ICAI, a senior official said on Saturday. The Companies Act, 2013, provides a comprehensive framework for development and regulation of the profession of valuers. He also said that standards for valuation are likely to be finalised in the near future. PTI
Award to media houses for yoga campaign
New Delhi: Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Saturday that the government has decided to honour media houses for their contribution towards promoting healthy living through yoga. He said 33 awards will be given and a six-member jury will consider the entries in all 23 official languages. Media campaigns on yoga from June 10 to 25 will be considered for International Yoga Day awards. PTI
