Two days after BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son, an MLA, was arrested for assaulting a civic official with a cricket bat, another party leader allegedly thrashed an official in Satna district with sticks.
According to police, Ram Sushil Patel (BJP), the Ramnagar Nagar Panchayat president, allegedly assaulted Chief Municipal Officer Devratnam Soni with sticks at Satna district’s Ramnagar Nagar Parishad office. An injured Soni was taken to the Primary Health Centre. Later, Patel also reached the police station, showing injury marks, alleging that the official had assaulted him.
Speaking to mediapersons, Superintendent of Police Riyaz Iqbal said the statements of both parties had been recorded and they were examinng the CCTV footage.“We are verifying the statements,” he added.
In Damoh district, a picture of Vivek Agrawal, vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, sitting in a government office, holding a bat, went viral. Sources said the BJYM functionary has reportedly threatened an accountant at the local municipality office. So far, no complaint has been lodged.
Akash Vijayvargiya, Indire MLA and son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, is already in jail for assaulting municipal corporation officials with a cricket bat on June 26. He has been sent to judicial custody till July 7. Today, his posters appeared in parts of the city which read: “salute Akashi ji”.
