Washington: An Indian-origin Sikh neuroscientist, who is bisexual, donned the rainbow turban to ring in this year’s ‘Pride Month’ in the US, drawing a lot of praise from netizens. Jiwandeep Kohli, who is based in San Diego, shared an image of the elaborate creation of the rainbow turban on Twitter. Pride Month kicked off on June 1 and honours the LGBTQ community while commemorating New York’s Stonewall riots in June 1969 that signalled a turning point in the movement for equal rights. PTI
50,000-tonne onion buffer to curb price rise
New Delhi: The Centre has started creating a buffer stock of 50,000 tonnes of onion to check prices in the coming months in view of drought conditions in producing states. Wholesale prices at Lasalgaon in Maharashtra, Asia’s largest wholesale market for onion, shot up by over 29 per cent to Rs 11 per kg on Tuesday as compared to Rs 8.50 on the same day a year ago. PTI
