No more biscuits at govt meetings

New Delhi, June 28

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has decided to bar the sale of biscuits from the canteen in Nirmal Bhavan, the government office complex that houses the Health Ministry. Reason: he does not want "unhealthy biscuits" to be served at the official meetings of the department.

In the first of its kind order passed by any minister, Vardhan has ordered the manager of the Health Ministry Departmental Canteen that henceforth only healthy snacks are to be served at official meetings of the ministry and no biscuits. “Healthy snacks like chana, khajoor (dates), bhuna chana (roasted gram), badaam (almonds) and akhrot (walnuts) will be served at official meetings now,” the order said. — TNS
