There is no proposal to fix minimum support price (MSP) for milk in the country as it is a highly perishable product, Parliament was informed Friday. "This Department does not regulate the prices of milk in the country. Prices are decided by the cooperative and private dairies based on cost of production," Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Sanjeev Kumar Balyan said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. Since milk is a highly perishable production, there is no "proposal to fix MSP for milk in the country," he said. PTI
Rs 3,800 cr spent on govt plans’ publicity
The Centre has spent over Rs 3,800 crore on the publicity of government schemes in the last three years, the Lok Sabha was informed on Friday. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said the Bureau of Outreach and Communication, a media unit under the ministry, uses print, electronic and outdoor media as well as direct communication through printed materials for publicising programmes of the government to create awareness. Jumbos killed 2,000, tigers 224 in 5 yrs
Over 2,000 people were killed by elephants, while tigers claimed over 200 lives in the past five years, the Union Environment Ministry informed the Lok Sabha. Nearly 494 persons were killed by the jumbos last year alone. Minister of State (MoS) for Environment, Babul Supriyo said 2,398 people have died since 2014 up to March 31, 2019, due to human-elephant conflict with West Bengal recording the maximum 403 deaths in last five years. No plan to privatise Railways: Goyal
Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said the Railways has no plan to privatise the national transporter or its premium trains such as Rajdhani and Shatabdi express, amidst speculation that there was a proposal to rope in private operators. Responding to a query on the privatisation of these trains and the entire network, Goyal told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that "no plan has been made". PTI
‘One nation, one card’ for ration soon
The government is working on introducing the formula of "One nation, one card" whereby the poor can get ration through ration cards anywhere in the country, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan informed the Rajya Sabha. He said food subsidy by the government has touched Rs 1,45,000 crore and wheat at Rs 2 per kg and rice at Rs 3 are provided. PTI
