Umaria (MP): In an exemplary act, a district collector in Madhya Pradesh today removed four air-conditioners from his cabin and meeting hall and got them installed in four nutrition rehabilitation centres to help children there beat the heat wave. Umaria DC Swarochish Somvanshi also appealed to the people to come forward and help the children, adding that such acts bring “bountiful joy”. PTI
Karan Oberoi gets bail in rape case
Mumbai: The Bombay HC on Friday granted bail to actor and singer Karan Oberoi, accused of raping his former girlfriend, on a surety of Rs 50,000. Oberoi was arrested on May 5 after a 34-year-old woman alleged that he raped her on several occasions and also extorted money and gifts from her. Oberoi, in his bail application, claimed they were in a consensual relationship and after he broke off the relationship she levelled allegations of rape. PTI
Reddy allowed to visit ailing dad-in-law
New Delhi: Former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy, an accused in a multi-crore illegal mining case, was on Friday allowed by the Supreme Court to visit his hometown Ballari to see his ailing father-in-law for two weeks from June 8. The SC, however, pulled up the CBI and expressed concern over the delay in framing of charges and starting of the trial in the Rs 35,000 crore mining scam. PTI
