New Delhi, July 30
The BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir core group today discussed the party’s preparedness for the forthcoming Assembly elections and the prevailing situation in the state. It favoured elections at the earliest. Chaired by working president JP Nadda, the meeting was held at a time when there is intense speculation over the abrogation of Article 35-A.
Jammu and Kashmir has been under President’s rule since June last year when the party ended its alliance with Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP. Top sources in the BJP insisted the group only discussed issues related to the Assembly elections, the schedule of which will be finalised by the Election Commission after it receives the final report on the law and order situation.
