The CBI has filed an FIR against former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, his brother Nabam Tagam and others in a case relating to alleged corruption in awarding a contract for a government project.

According to the FIR, a contract for a government project worth Rs. 3.20 crore was awarded to his brother in 2003 without following tender norms when Tuki was the Minister of Consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies in Arunachal Pradesh. Tuki was the Chief Minister during 2011-16.

The other persons, who have also been named in the FIR, include United Commercial Bank then chief manager Sohrab Ali Hazarika and Civil Supplies Department the then director NN Osik.

In the FIR, it is alleged that Osik paid illegal gratification of Rs 30 lakh, which were credited in his account in Itanagar branch of the United Commercial Bank. The cheque was issued in the name of Tuki and later changed to "yourself", it alleged. It said Hazarika, as the branch manager, helped to get the amount credited in Tuki's account and did not obtain any authorisation for alterations made in the cheque beneficiary.

In its preliminary enquiry, the CBI found that the account was indeed in the name of Tuki and his specimen signatures were on the account opening form.
