Don’t offer namaz on roads: Aligarh mufti

Aligarh: The chief mufti of Aligarh urged Muslims on Thursday to refrain from performing namaz on streets, making a bid to defuse the controversy over the district administration’s recent ban on religious ceremonies on roads. Mohammad Khalid Hameed said the place for performing Friday prayers was inside a mosque. “… the devout should not perform namaz on the streets and cause inconvenience to others.” Hameed said. PTI

New Delhi: From life on the moon to a pollution-free world, students can sketch or paint their imagination for Google's Children's Day contest and find it as a doodle on the search engine on November 14, besides winning a Rs 5 lakh scholarship. This year's theme is ‘When I grow up, I hope…’ and doodles must incorporate the letters G-o-o-g-l-e, Director of Marketing, Southeast Asia and India, Google, Sapna Chadha, said. PTI

Washington: Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard has sought an apology from her fellow party lawmaker, Indian-American Senator Kamala Harris, alleging that people “suffered” when she was the attorney general of California. Both Gabbard and Harris appeared on the same stage at a Democratic presidential debate. Trailing far behind Harris in opinion polls, Gabbard — the first Hindu to ever run for the presidency of the US — was aggressive in attacking Harris on the criminal justice system. PTI
