Pithoragarh: The annual Kailash-Mansarovar yatra through the Lipulekh pass in Uttarakhand concluded on Sunday with 41 members of the last batch of pilgrims returning to the Indian territory from Tibet at 7.30 am. The 18th and last batch returned to Bundi in the morning. A total of 949 pilgrims went through Lipulekh route this year. The yatra began on June 8 from New Delhi. PTI
Actor-dancer Veeru Krishnan dead
Mumbai: Actor-Kathak dancer Veeru Krishnan, known for his work in films such as Ishq, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Raja Hindustani, has passed away. Krishnan mostly appeared in supporting roles in the films in 1990s. He was a regular in Aamir Khan’s movies. Besides acting, Krishnan used to teach Kathak. Actors like Katrina Kaif, Athiya Shetty, Karanvir Bohra and others were trained in Kathak by him. PTI
Tripura to build replicas of 51 Shaktipeeths
Agartala: To boost tourism, Tripura has decided to construct 51 temples, which would be replicas of 51 Shaktipeeths, an official said. The government has already allocated 14.22 acres of land for construction of the replicas at Fulkumari in Gomati district, 3 km from Tripuresari temple, a famous temple and one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, the official said.
