Guwahati: The BJP government in Assam has decided that people with more than two children will be ineligible for government jobs after January 1, 2021. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting here with an aim to curb population explosion. The Assam government had in 2017 drafted a policy on population growth. At 31,169,272 population in the 2011 census, the state had registered a 16.93 per cent growth in 10 years. IANS
‘Dress code’ to get driving licence in Chennai
Chennai: Though there is no official dress code for driving licence applicants, the Regional Transport Office here has advised men and women to come in "proper dress". "Whether it is men or women, the general advice is to come in a proper dress. It is not moral policing," the official said. "Men in lungi or shorts are asked to come in proper attire," an official said. "Women wearing sleeveless tops or capri were sent back and told to come properly dressed," he said. IANS
Pankaj Kumar named new UIDAI CEO
New Delhi: The government on Tuesday appointed IAS officer Pankaj Kumar as the new CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Kumar is currently Additional Secretary in the Ministry Of Electronics and IT. "Pankaj Kumar, IAS (NL87), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as CEO, UIDAI, in the rank and pay of Secretary by temporarily upgrading the post," the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet said, as per an official statement.IANS
