Lucknow, October 28
Gearing up to maintain peace and harmony ahead of the much awaited Ayodhya judgment, the Meeut police have urged Muslims to remain calm and not believe in rumours on social media.
Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Saini presided over a meeting with eminent Muslims at the Police Lines two days ago. He appealed them to accept the Supreme Court judgment whichever way it went.
The Muslim community assured the police to work towards communal harmony. They recalled that even after the 2010 Allahabad High Court judgment, they had remained calm and alert.
SSP Saini asked them not to pay heed to false news and reports on social media, including WhatsApp groups.
Meanwhile, imams of all masjids in the sensitive Sardhna area of Meerut have already requested people not to post or share any religious matter on social media. — TNS
