A Rampur court on Friday convicted six of the eight accused in the attack on a CRPF camp 12 years ago.
The court found Mohammd Sharif, Jang Bahadur, Imran Shahzad, Mohammad Farooque, Sabauddin and Fahim Ansari guilty of the terror attack. Two of the accused Kausar Khan Farouqi and Gulab Khan were acquitted.
The CRPF personnel were martyred in the wee hours of January 1, 2008 when they were sitting around a bonfire celebrating the New Year in Rampur camp. A rickshaw puller had also been killed in the cross fire.The CRPF group centre was attacked with grenades and AK-47 rifles. — TNS
