Ahead of the expected Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya case, ruling BJP’s ideological fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has issued clear-cut instructions on dos and don’ts to its ‘sangathan’ — the cadre.
A day after the BJP told party workers to restrain from making emotive and provocative statements on the issue, prominent sangh and Muslim leaders today met to send out a message on strengthening “social harmony” and “defeat forces who want to disturb harmony and peace”.
“The meeting was very constructive and fruitful. Intellectuals, religious leaders and academicians from Muslim community expressed commitment to strengthen the fabric of social harmony, brotherhood and unity under any circumstances and defeat forces who want to disturb harmony,” Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said after the meeting.
“All those present at the meeting appealed to the people of the country to remain cautious of elements engaged in a conspiracy to harm unity and harmony in society for their vested interests. Unity in diversity is our cultural commitment. It is the collective responsibility of all sections of society to protect this strength of unity,” said Naqvi.
The Sangh has also told its “pracharaks” not to celebrate or carry out processions if the Ram temple judgment comes in its favour. Its instructions to “swayamsevak bandhu and bhagini” is to maintain calm whatever the verdict is.
“It will be a historic day and it is the responsibility of each of us as a nationalist to discourage provocative activities. Pay heed only to information and instructions from the organisation and do not pay heed to social media rumors. A New India is rising and you have to pave the way. It can only happen with peace and harmony. Regardless of what the court’s verdict is, the entire Hindu society will welcome it wholeheartedly,” the message reads.
