Brisbane: An Indian taxi driver in Australia refused to take money from Pakistani players for a ride he gave them here. The cricketers were Shaheen Shah Afridi, Yasir Shah and Naseem Shah. ABC radio presenter Alison Mitchell narrated the story about the driver to former pacer Mitchell Johnson. Alison Mitchell came to know about the incident through the same cabbie, who drove her to the Gabba stadium in Brisbane for the first Test between Australia and Pakistan. On the ride, she came to know about the Pakistani players, who were picked up from their hotel in Brisbane and were taken to an Indian restaurant for dinner. IANS
Doctors remove world’s largest kidney
New Delhi: Surgeons have removed a kidney weighing 7.4 kg, claimed to be the world’s largest, from a 56-year-old man, the authorities at a city hospital where the procedure was performed said on Monday. The kidney, removed after a two-hour-long surgery performed recently, had occupied almost the entire abdomen of the patient, Dr Sachin Kathuria, urology consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said. “To put things into perspective, the kidney weighed more than two human newborn babies combined,” he said. A normal kidney weighs about 120-150 grams. PTI
UP CM’s pet now celebrity on social media
Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s pet dog has turned into an internet celebrity. Photographs of Yogi petting the black Labrador have flooded the social media. The black Labrador is named “Kalu” and is said to be very fond of Adityanath. On Monday, Kalu got photographed with the Chief Minister who fed him pieces of “paneer”. Dwarika Tiwari, office-in-charge of the Goraksh temple, said Yogi Adityanath is particularly fond of Kalu. PTI
