Hyderabad, November 1
A CBI special court has ruled that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy cannot be exempted from personal appearance in the ongoing disproportionate assets case. Dismissing Jagan’s petition, the court accepted the CBI argument that exemption from personal presence was likely to affect witnesses.
Jagan’s lawyer had submitted an application saying that the CM could not attend weekly court proceedings in person as he was working for the public. The lawyer further said Jagan's coming to Hyderabad to attend a special court for one day would cost lakhs to the state. — TNS
