Swedish royals to help clean Mumbai beach

Mumbai: Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will take part in a clean-up drive at Versova Beach, Andheri West, and pay homage to 26/11 Mumbai terror attack victims, during their visit starting here on Wednesday. The 5.6-km-long Rajiv Gandhi Bandra Worli Sea Link would remain lit up from Tuesday to Thursday in Swedish flag colours in honour of the royals’ visit, said Sweden Consul-General Anna Lekvall. IANS

Navy may offer Sea Harrier jet for WB museum 

Kolkata: Navy is considering to offer a decommissioned Sea Harrier fighter plane to the city after having gifted a Tupolov-142 for setting up an aircraft museum at New Town here, a senior official said. The Bengal government is setting up a museum featuring ‘Albatross’ and it is likely to be thrown open by mid-2020, Commodore Suprobho De said here. Inducted in 1983, the British-made Sea Harriers were retired in 2016. PTI

Fugitive Nithyananda sets up ‘Hindu nation’ 

New Delhi: Even as Gujarat cops are looking for self-styled godman Nithyananda in alleged case of kidnapping, wrongful confinement of kids at his ashram in Ahmedabad, a website, Kailaasa.org, has popped up suggesting that he has founded his own country and designed its flag, constitution and emblem. The website declared the godman has declared a ‘Hindu sovereign nation’ and even has a cabinet along with a PM. It has also called for donations for the country and through it, an opportunity to gain citizenship of the “greatest Hindu nation” named Kailaasa. The website, registered in Panama, was last updated on October 10, 2019. IANS
