Mumbai, June 18
A former bar dancer living in Mumbai has accused the son of a top Kerala politician of raping her on the pretext of marriage. In her complaint to the Oshiwara police in suburban Mumbai, the 33-year-old woman hailing from Bihar alleged that Binoy Kodiyeri, son of senior Kerala CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, repeatedly raped her from 2009 to 2018. Quoting from the FIR, an official posted at the Oshiwara police station said the woman met Binoy while she worked as a dancer at the Mehfil dance bar in Dubai.
Binoy, who claimed to be running a construction business in Dubai, was a regular at the bar and often showered money at her while she performed dance sequences.
In her FIR, the woman said Binoy took her to his house in Dubai in 2009 where he had sexual intercourse with her after promising marriage. He then rented a flat at Andheri in Mumbai where she was asked to relocate, the woman said in her complaint.
In due course, she delivered a girl, who is now eight-year-old. However, Binoy neither married her, nor introduce her to his family. He also stopped providing maintenance last year, citing problems in business. The woman then shifted from the rented flat provided by Binoy to a smaller flat in Mira Road outside Mumbai, the FIR said.
Binoy has, however, denied the allegations and accused the woman of blackmailing him with a Rs 5 crore demand. — TNS
