Govindghat landslide buries vehicles

Govindghat: More than half a dozen vehicles were buried under the debris following a landslide at Govindghat en route to Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand’s Gopeshwar district on Saturday morning.

District Disaster Management officer NK Joshi said there was no information yet about loss of life in the incident. Govindghat is the main halt en route the Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib.

Rescue teams and the District Magistrate visited the spot. Traffic on the Badrinath national highway was blocked as the flash flood in a canal inundated the road at Govindghat. PTI
