Mourinho's Spurs get going

LONDON, November 23

Jose Mourinho got off to the best possible start as Tottenham Hotspur manager as his new side beat West Ham United 3-2 at London Stadium today — their first Premier League away win in 10 months.

First-half goals from Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura and another after the break from Harry Kane — his 175th for the club — inflicted West Ham's fifth league defeat in seven games and piled more pressure on manager Manuel Pellegrini whose side sit close to the drop zone.

Later, Liverpool continued a seemingly relentless push for their first league title since 1990 after a late goal by Roberto Firmino gave them a scrappy 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.

Juventus leave it late

Rome:  A late double from Gonzalo Higuain helped Juventus come from behind to beat Atalanta 3-1 in Bergamo today and go four points clear at the top of the Serie A standings. Robin Gosens gave the home side a deserved lead in the second- half after Musa Barrow missed a penalty before the break.  But Higuain struck twice in the final 16 minutes to turn the game on its head before Paulo Dybala sealed the points with a late strike.

Juve coach Maurizio Sarri was without star player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sluggish Barca win

Madrid: Barcelona came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory at La Liga's basement club Leganes today after another unconvincing away display away by the champions as substitute Arturo Vidal struck a scrappy late winner.

Leganes had taken the lead thanks to a superb strike into the top corner from Morocco forward Youssef En-Nesyri in the 12th minute.

The home side spurned chances to extend their advantage but Barca levelled in the 52nd minute when Luis Suarez glanced in Lionel Messi's free kick. Barca won the game thanks to a fortunate goal in the 79th minute from Chilean midfielder Vidal, who was in a clear offside position when he knocked in from close range.

Dortmund held in thriller

Berlin: Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus equalised in added time to salvage a 3-3 draw at home to Bundesliga bottom side Paderborn as Friday's shock result left Dortmund coach Lucien Favre under pressure.

PSG down toppers Lille

Paris: Neymar made his latest comeback from injury for Paris Saint-Germain on Friday as first-half goals by Mauro Icardi and Angel Di Maria saw the Ligue 1 leaders ease to a 2-0 win over Lille at the Parc des Princes. — Agencies
